A line that would summarize my life would be “Things work out best for those who make the best of how things work out” and I believe that only I can change my life. No one else can do it for me.
After graduating from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneswar (KIIT) in Electrical Engineering, I started my career with Shapoorji Pallonji& Co. Pvt. Ltd. I worked with them for nearly 3 years and gained valuable insights into various Operations of the world of construction.
After working for couple of years at Flipkart.com and Honda Cars, I decided to pursue an MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management. The reason was twofold – I wanted to gain a deeper understanding of the concepts related to operations and supply chain management which I had come across in my previous experience. Second, I wanted to have some guidance on how to put all the pieces of my previous experiences together to create my career path. SIOM ticked all the boxes but what finally convinced me was the industry oriented curriculum – presence of SAP modules, KMPG Six Sigma Green Belt program, CAPSTONE simulations and support to pursue the renowned APICS certifications.
During the course of my engineering and subsequent job with one of the Indian multinational conglomerate, I learnt how all the diverse departments of an organization viz. Finance, Marketing, Sales, and Human Resources etc. have a significant bearing on the Operations department which is at the core. I also felt that technical and management aspects within an organization go hand in hand. With this aim of pursuing higher studies and becoming a techno-commercial leader in my area of interest-Operations and Supply Chain Management- I joined SIOM.
