ICOSCM 2021

16th & 17th January 2021

SIOM organized its International Conference on Operations and Supply Chain Management digitally on the Zoom platform. The main objective of the conference is to give an impetus for providing an efficient platform for academicians, research scholars, and other stakeholders to put in their perspectives and ideas on the current supply chain scenario.

As the businesses tackle and steer through the ongoing Pandemic, they are simultaneously introspecting their massive reliance on offshore supplies for their operations and are recognizing a need for a strategic manoeuvre towards becoming self-reliant. This manoeuvre by the businesses towards the new normal needed a significant helping hand from a great deal of scholarly work and discussions which the central theme “Research and Practice in Operations Management: Lessons from COVID-19” of the International Conference on Operations and Supply Chain Management aimed to provide.

SIOM’s International Conference on Operations and Supply Chain Management had received research works across twelve sub-themes under its central theme from around the world. After heavy scrutiny by renowned and experienced reviewers, a total of 80 research works were selected and presented for evaluation to highly esteemed chairs in 8 tracks which went about parallelly in two sessions one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.

The conference witnessed very thoughtful and informative deliberations by the highly acclaimed Keynote Speakers, Professor Subodha Kumar, Fox School of Business, Temple University, USA, and Dr. Samir Yerpude, Deputy General Manager, Tata Motors Ltd, on the many intricacies of conducting research works and the importance of research works in the contemporary operations world especially in a developing country like India.

The valedictory session of the International Conference on Operations and Supply Chain Management was graced by highly regarded Industry experts Dr. K Ganesh, Global Lead, McKinsey and Company, and Mr. Rakesh Mathur, Senior Vice President, and Managing Director India at MAN Energy Solutions, through their ruminations about the world of Operations and Supply Chain Management. The Conference was concluded with the awarding of the best research works under the categories “Academician” and “Research Scholar” by the aforementioned Valedictory Speakers.
