E-Cell Activity
Entrepreneurship Cell, SIOM is a student body which promotes entrepreneurship among students. Since its inception in the year 2008, E cell has been actively fostering Entrepreneurship in its students. It invites various eminent entrepreneurs to deliver lectures to educate students about the joys and hardships of entrepreneurship. Case study workshops, Knowledge Camps are conducted throughout the year to involve students in activities that are essential to an entrepreneur. In the current year (2010), E cell is all set for a series of events like

- Social initiatives to promote entrepreneurship in society
Operations Management teaches us to be customer centric. Every product or service should be aligned to customer. Keeping this in mind we started the year with an enriching guest lecture from Mr. Abhay Mudgal, VP-Products, HSBC. A banker is a customer to a Business Plan. Knowing the customer's requirement of a bsuiness plan was the best start possible. Mr. Mudgal shared his knowledge and experience on Business Plans and what a banker is interested in while evaluating a bsuiness plan and funding support. He touched upon aspects like marketing, finance, operations, etc. involved in the plan.
Carrying forward these basic lessons, the E cell provided the students the platform to interact with eminent personalities like Mr. Ram Bhogale and many more. Mr. Ram Bhogale is the managing director of Nirlep group of Industries – a company with over 200 crores turnover. He has also held various positions of repute such as director of many other companies like ……… along with ranks like trustee, treasurer and president of various society and sports association. He was instrumental in development of heat resistant non-toxic paints and the export of technology to Kenya, Dubai and Ghana. His contribution to technology development and semi automation in utensil industry is worth a mention. He is credited with turnaround and modernization of loss making organizations like Deogiri Nagari Sahakari Bank and Kamal Nayan Bajaj Hospital to name a few. The students consider themselves fortunate enough to have got this opportunity.
E cell is planning to roll out Business Plan competitions in the coming months and other activities for giving the budding entrepreneurs a hands-on-experience on handling businesses. Also certain activities like Case study competitions to enforce application of mind and learning are also in the pipeline. With all these efforts and many more to follow, we dream of an India as a country with ample employment opportunities and inclusive sustainable growth.
